Mineral Separation Plant design incorporated wet and dry processing stages. SBM Machinery supplied state-of-the-art spiral, magnetic and electrostatic technology from its proprietary range of process equipment; and engineered equipment, including a large grizzly screen hopper and trommel, to meet specific process needs.
SBM Machinery provided members of its process engineering team to commission the Mineral Separation Plant and fine-tune the process for optimum grade and recovery.
Wet Concentrating Plant
The Wet Concentrating Plant incorporates rougher and middling’sscavenger spiral circuits todiscard tails followed by a cleaner spiral circuit and an upstream classifier. Additional spiral circuits were specified to clean the Sillimanite from the overflow and separate the Garnet. A flotation circuit was also specified to make a high grade sillimanite concentrates. The mineral process delivers very high grade mineral concentrate, Sillimanite and Garnet for further upgrading by electrostatic separation methods.
Dry Mineral Separation Plant
The process flowsheets specified dry mining methods to feed the first stage of mineral separation. Feed preparation incorporates a large grizzly screen hopper (to remove tramp oversize such as plant matter and boulders) and a trommel to screen material at approximately 4.0mm followed by a surge bin to collect the undersize at 350TPH.
In alluvial mining, the alluvial mineral separation plant used to treat the mineral-bearing soil is as important as the method employed to mine it. The ultimate success of the operation depends to a large extent on the efficiency of the treatment process.
SBM Machinery has a wealth of know-how and experience in the design and manufacture of gravity-type treatment plant for land-based and floating applications, in a range of capacities from 50 to 800 cubic metres per hour.
The cost of installing the treatment plant will be rapidly recouped, if only by the additional recovery of the fines which are lost with conventional treatment systems. As the accompanying size recovery curve shows, jigs plants are considerably more efficient than conventional jigs and other gravity separation devices.
